![]() Any adaptor used to make a d2s fit into a h7 projector is going to produce a crappy light pattern. The projector assemblies for the xenon headlights are fundamentally different from the halogen ones! The xenon projectors are designed to accept a D2S bulb, whereas the halogen assemblies fit a H7. Throwing a xenon bulb into a halogen e39 headlight does not work well AT ALL. There is a place to mount this wire on the lens housing with a flat-style female wire connector. You should also add a ground wire from the lens housing to a leveling mount screw. This way you can bake open the light and make the conversion easier, including refinishing the lens and/or replacing broken adjusters if need be. There is a date dial on each light near where the "drain tube" is near the angel eye bulb. You should consider buying lights that were produced up to August of 2002. ![]() ![]() The optics (fish eyes) are the same for either. You only need to drill out the existing, plugged holes for mounting the screws. The leveling motors can also be mounted with ease. All that is need is an adaptor- found easily on ebay- to connect your xenon lights to the halogen base. You can buy halogen and convert to xenon with your parts. If I have a fully working assembly that I wanted to have swapped out, would a halogen assembly work - just needing a bulb and ballast and such switch over? Or are the halogen and xenon assemblies different? I can't tell if the xenon assemblies come with ballasts or so, which accounts for the price increase?Īnd I know I've seen this done a million times over, but thoughts can be shared for this as well, but are Depos not worth it? I was planning on going OEM Hella, but just checking to see if saving some money means sacrificing quality, which I don't really wanna do. In my searches, I see a vast pricing difference in halogen and xenon headlight assemblies, but I can't seem to find what the differences are. I'd like to get a new headlight assembly to replace it. I'm slowly working to fix and upgrade everything - the other day I noticed the right side headlight (passenger side) is missing the amber reflector. I just picked up an 01 540i/6 with M-sport in Aspen Silver.
